Hey, do you want to make sure that your sales team, your marketing team, your service team is seeing the data that they need to see when it comes to your leads your customers? Do you want to be able to customize that left side panel where it says about this contact? Well, that's exactly what we're going to talk about in this video. So let's go ahead and get into the good stuff. Are you a HubSpot user looking for fun and interactive education that helps you be better at HubSpot? Then Welcome to sprocket talk show. I'm your Boy George B. Thomas from sprocket and today we're going to talk about customizing your actual about this contact record so that when your team jumps in your sales team, your marketing team, your service team jumps into that contact record. They can see the information that you deem as a company to be important now, yes, they will be able to customize it and add their own properties, but you're going to be able to set the baseline

After watching this video, so let's go ahead and jump into HubSpot. And we're going to go ahead and get you going with customizing your contact properties inside of that sidebar so your team can see what you want them to see. So as you can see, we are here in HubSpot, and what we're going to do is we're going to go ahead and go into the settings area real quick. So the settings gear is right up here at the top right hand corner, we're going to go ahead and click that. And then you're going to see contacts and companies right here on the left hand side, we're going to go ahead and click into that section right there. Now once in here, you're going to see that we have this tab that has contacts and tab that has company's privacy and consent. But we're going to stay in context for this tutorial. And you're going to see that you can set the properties your team sees on contact records. So there's going to be a button here go to properties. We're going to go ahead and click that it's going to open up this panel where you're going to be able to search for any of the properties that are in your home.

HubSpot portal. So this means any default HubSpot properties are going to be in this section as well as any custom properties that you've created questions, data points, whatever it's going to be in there. So we can go ahead and add into the sidebar exactly what you want. And if you need to create more custom properties, do that, and then build out your sidebar. So in HubSpot, we're gonna be able to then go ahead and fly open this right hand side. And this is going to show us what is already in our sidebar, what you want to do is make sure that you keep this as robust as you need but as simple as possible, because with a bunch of data points in here, it might get confusing for the people who are trying to use it. And one thing to think about if you're just getting started, keep it simplified at first so that you can get that by and get that adoption. People want to go in and see that lead intelligence and you can always grow the amount of fields over time, one

They're used to using the HubSpot platform anyway. So what you can do is you can then search for any property. And so in this case we'll say gender since it's right here. And if you select that, you're gonna get a pop up, no, say any edits that you make will go across all of this area, we're gonna go ahead and hit edit, and then you're going to see that gender will actually be down here on the bottom right, and I can drag click and drag this up anywhere that I want to be in the sections, you go ahead and simply search for the properties that you want, click or check them, they'll end up in this sidebar. And then once you're done, you'll go ahead and hit the Save button. So you might be wondering what happens when you hit that side button? Well, that's a great question. And to be honest with you, that's exactly what we're gonna dive into next, because why would we show you how to build something and not show you where it actually is. So let's go ahead and dive back into HubSpot. And what we'll do is we'll go ahead and head over

over to a contact record, we'll discard the change that we just made. And we'll search for my contact record. So here we are in my contact record and you can see the about this contact section. And of course, it's got all the information that we have that was in the sidebar that you saw built over there. So again, keep it simple at first, but you can build it out and get it more robust as people get the buy in or are used to using this sidebar because you really want to make it so this sidebar is at a glance, people know oh, this is what I need to know about the contact before I get on the phone before I send them an email. So again, keep it robust as you need but as succinct or simplified as possible. Make sure you're setting your team up for success by creating these side panels with the data with the contact intelligence that you need it to have.
